Moldovan cabinet to set up population forecast annually

Chisinau, April 17 /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet approved today a government decision on elaboration of the population forecast. Under the document, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection (MMPS) is mandated to ensure the elaboration of the population forecast, through the National Institute for Economic Research (Demographic Research Centre).

The population forecast will be set up annually from 2024. Once every three years, the population forecast at territorial level will be set up starting in 2024, and will be disseminated to central and local public administration and other interested institutions.

The financial sources necessary for the implementation of the draft decision will be covered in 2024-2025 by the UNFPA and the Swiss Agency for Cooperation and Development, in the amount of about 50 thousand USD, and from 2026 - the state budget.
