Moldovan speaker attends EU Speakers Conference

Chisinau, April 21 /MOLDPRES/ - Speaker Igor Grosu attends the Conference of Speakers of the European Union, held on 21-24 April 2024, hosted by La Almudaina Royal Palace in Palma, Spain.
During the meeting, the speakers of the EU parliaments, the leadership of the European Parliament and the speakers of the candidate countries will discuss topical common issues. This year's discussions will focus on two thematic sessions - foreign and defence policy: Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine and the conflict in the Middle East; strengthening the European Union from an economic and social perspective in the context of future enlargement, social rights and environment and climate change challenges. At the end of the debates, the final declaration of the conference will be adopted.
In Palma, Grosu has scheduled meetings with his counterparts from several European countries.
The event represents a forum for discussion, exchange of views, information and experience on the role and responsibilities of national parliaments in the European structure and on the instruments of inter-parliamentary cooperation in the European affairs. Attending the event are speakers of the EU member states, president of the European Parliament and speakers of the candidate countries.
