Moldovan president's message on State Flag Day

Chisinau, April 27 /MOLDPRES/-Every time we look at the state flag we should be proud of what we have achieved and continue to contribute to the construction of European Moldova. Head of State Maia Sandu made the statement at the opening of the solemn ceremony dedicated to the State Flag Day.
The event was held in front of the Government. It was attended by Speaker Igor Grosu, Prime Minister Dorin Recean, members of the Cabinet of Ministers and other state officials.
Maia Sandu urged citizens to keep the state flag always in their hearts, not to forget where their roots, memories, aspirations and dreams are.
"We mark this day with an honor to the tricolor. The state flag is a window to the past and the future. It calls us to unity, solidarity and the hope reflected in the three colours. Together we can overcome any obstacle, regardless of language, whether we are from the North or the South. When we look at the tricolour it is important to remember the values that define us, the desire for freedom, the attachment to the culture of our country. I urge you, dear citizens, every day, through good deeds and thoughtful words, to honour the tricolour", said Maia Sandu.
At the ceremony, the state flag was festively honoured and the state anthem was sung.
On this occasion, cultural and educational activities are organized throughout the country, book exhibitions with reference to the history of the state and the evolution of flags throughout the history of our country.
The State Flag Day was established by the Chisinau Parliament on 23 April 2010. The Tricolour was officially designated the state flag on 27 April 1990. The State Flag of the Republic of Moldova is a major official symbol of the sovereignty and independence of the Republic of Moldova.
