Moldovan speaker meets Ukrainian deputy speaker

Chisinau, April 29 /MOLDPRES/ - Speaker Igor Grosu met with Deputy Speaker of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk, who visited the Moldovan Parliament today. The talks focused on cooperation between our country and Ukraine, as well as on the latest news in preparing for European integration negotiations, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
"In the last two years, Moldova and Ukraine are moving together towards the big European family and we will continue to act united. We will do everything in our power to maintain peace in our country and to help our neighbours, who are fighting for Ukraine and for a united Europe," Grosu stressed.
The officials also agreed to exchange experience on several laws aimed at fighting propaganda and disinformation. "Since the barbaric invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, both we and our Ukrainian neighbours are facing a hybrid war on social media aimed at inducing fear in society and discrediting state institutions," Grosu said.
Also the Ukrainian deputy speaker met with Deputy Speaker Doina Gherman. "Since the first day of the war, Moldova has stood in solidarity with Ukraine. We have offered constant political, diplomatic and humanitarian support, continuing to host more than 117 thousand Ukrainian refugees, to whom we ensure access to basic rights (social, medical, educational assistance) and protection against discrimination of any form," Gherman said.
Olena Kondratiuk visited the Republic of Moldova at the invitation of Doina Gherman. The agenda of the visit also included talks with Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Research, the management of the Centre for Strategic Communication and Countering Disinformation, as well as businesswomen from the Ukrainian community.
