Population and Housing Census: more than one million people surveyed over three weeks

Chisinau, April 29 /MOLDPRES/- About 699 thousand households and about 1 million 013 thousand people were surveyed under the Population and Housing Census on 8 - 28 April. The National Statistics Bureau (BNS) unveiled the data today.
Number of the surveyed people includes both persons with usual residence and those without usual residence.
"We urge the population to continue to be receptive and open to participate in the census," the BNS said.
The Population and Housing Census was launched on 8 April and will run until 7 July this year. During this period, some 4,000 census takers will go from house to house to collect data on the population and its characteristics, such as age, gender, ethnicity, education level, occupation, etc., as well as housing and living conditions, such as sewage and water supply, heating and so on.
The census is carried out every ten years and is a nationwide activity providing a complete demographic picture of the country. The data collected from the census will inform the development of national and local public policies needed for the economic and social development of the country.
