Moldovan Prime Minister has meeting with rectors

Chisinau, April 30 /MOLDPRES/- Strategic priorities, challenges and ways to improve higher education quality were discussed at a meeting attended by Prime Minister Dorin Recean, Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun and the Rectors' Council, the government's communication department has reported.
The prime minister spoke about the attractiveness of universities for students from abroad and their potential to attract more people to study in Moldova. At the same time, the official stressed the need to improve the quality of studies.
"Education is government's top priority. The government is responsible for ensuring economic growth, and a key factor for this is a highly qualified workforce. Here, the role of educational institutions is crucial," he said.
Recean noted that the meetings with the rectors are a start of strategic dialogue. "We need to meet as often as possible to discuss the development of higher education and to adopt a common vision, with very clear responsibilities and commitments on both sides," he said.
Among the strategic priorities presented by the Ministry of Education and Research are increasing the quality and competitiveness of studies, increasing universities' own income, developing the research field, integrity, internationalisation, integrating young graduates into the labour market etc.
