Chisinau, 22 May /MOLDPRES/ - Even if this is a not at all easy fight, the evaluation of the judicial system will continue, as this is the only instrument which can ensure a justice system for honest people. In this respect, I made a call for us to be backed in this common fight for democracy. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has made statements to this effect, following discussions with Venice Commission President Claire Bazy Malaurie and President of the European Court of Human Rights Siofra O’Leary, who participate in the 19th Congress of the Conference of European Constitutional Courts, along with 40 delegations, in Chisinau.
According to the speaker, the developments in the justice sector and the fulfillment of the three recommendations of the European Commission were the main subjects discussed with the two officials.
“I voiced confidence that together, with the support of the friends and partners from EU we will be able to respond to the challenges from the next period, especially in next autumn, when we have to organize two ballots – the presidential elections and the referendum. On 20 October, the Moldovans will clearly say that they want to be part of the great European family and this will be laid down in the Constitution and the competent institutions will do their utmost to organize fair elections and to protect the citizens’ vote. I spoke also about the organization of the voting by correspondence in some countries for the first time ever, as well as about the clearing of the judicial system of corrupt people. Even if this is not at all easy fight, the evaluation of the judicial system will continue, as this is the only instrument which can ensure a justice system for honest people. In this respect, I made a call for us to be supported in this common fight for democracy,’’ Igor Grosu said.
