Moldova's Parliament marks 33 years of activity

Chisinau, May 23 /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament marks 33 years of activity today. During this period, the legislature has adopted 12,986 normative acts and held 1,895 meetings.
According to the parliament's communication and public relations department, in 33 years of activity, the parliament has adopted 14 constitutional laws. Almost 6,000 of the adopted laws are organic, and 508 - ordinary. The rest of the adopted acts were decisions.

The legislature has been called the Parliament since 23 May 1991, previously the Supreme Soviet. On 23 May 1991, according to the decision of the Supreme Soviet of the Moldovan Soviet Socialist Republic of the 12th legislature, formed after the first democratic elections, the union republic RSSM was transformed into the Republic of Moldova and the Supreme Soviet became the first Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.
