Chisinau, 14 June /MOLDPRES/ - Ukrainian children refugees, as well as children of ethnic Ukrainians from Moldova will be able to continue their education in their mother language and easier integrate into the educational system of Moldova. This will be possible after, in the next school year, more classes with teaching in the Ukrainian and Romanian languages will be opened at the Taras Shevchenko gymnasium from Chisinau.

The classes will be opened both in the primary cycle (I and IV), and the gymnasium cycle (V). The children will study in the Ukrainian and Romanian languages (with the observance of the national curriculum) and the teachers will be selected from refugees and teachers of Moldova who know the Ukrainian language. Also, training sources for teachers and cultural activities for pupils will be organized, in order to improve the linguistic skills.

Presently, the Education and Research Ministry (MEC) holds discussions with international partners, in order to get financial support for the renovation and endowment of the rooms for education and sports halls, as well as for the translation of the textbooks in the Ukrainian language.

According to data by MEC, over 2,300 children from Ukraine attend schools and kindergartens from Moldova.
