Chisinau, 28 June /MOLDPRES/ - A free-style wrestler, Radu Lefter, will represent Moldova at the Paris Olympic Games.
Lefter qualified for the Summer Olympic Games, after the wrestlers with neutral status were excluded and the International Wrestling Federation gave Radu Lefter participation quota, due to his position held in the world ranking.
This year, Radu Lefter became, for the first time ever, European champion in U-23 free-style wrestling, bringing the continental title at this age category to Moldova for the first time ever.
Thus, six sportspeople will represent Moldova at the Paris Olympic Games at the contest of free-style wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, being also the most numerous team in the history of Moldova’s participation in the Summer Olympic Games.
Nicolae Ceban and Eugen Nedealcu were the last free-style wrestlers at the Olympic Games. This happened at the Olympic Games from Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
