Chisinau, 30 June /MOLDPRES/ - The National Costume Day today was marked at the State University of Moldova (USM) by a string of events. The festivities started with a Parade of the National Costume, presented to representatives of those 11 faculties and research institutions of USM. Fifty four students, heads of series of students, were awarded prizes by the Romanian government’s Department for Relation with Moldova (DRRM), and thus, their performances in the academic field were appreciated.
Attending the event were the DDRM state secretary, Adrian Dupu, and USM Rector Igor Sarov.
„I was happy to be, this year as well, with university staff and students at this holiday our traditional costume, which promotes this symbol of the Romanian traditions,’’ Adrian Dupu said. The Romanian official noted that DRRM had contributed, this year too, to the awarding of students, heads of series of students, who achieved performances in the education process and will become top professionals on the labour market. ‘’Romania continues to support the performance in education and the promotion of our common traditions,’’ the Romanian official said.
The National Costume Day is marked annually on the last Sunday of June. The National Ethnography and Natural History Museum holds a programme dedicated to this holiday.
