PACE to monitor preparations for presidential elections, constitutional referendum

Chisinau, July 1 /MOLDPRES/- PACE co-rapporteurs of the monitoring committee Pierre-Alain Fridez and Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica will be on a fact-collecting visit to Moldova on July 1-3. They will examine recent political developments, preparations for the presidential elections and constitutional referendum, and the implementation of postal voting.
According to the parliament's communication and public relations department, the visit will focus on foreign interference, justice reform progress, external evaluation of judges and prosecutors.
The co-rapporteurs will meet speaker Igor Grosu, head of the Action and Solidarity Party faction, deputy speaker Doina Gherman and members of the Communists and Socialists Bloc faction.
The agenda also includes meetings with President Maia Sandu and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister Mihail Popșoi. The PACE co-rapporteurs also have talks planned with Director of the Intelligence and Security Service Alexandru Musteata, Prosecutor General Ion Munteanu, Head of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office Veronica Dragalin, members of the vetting commission for judges and prosecutors and representatives of the Central Electoral Commission. Discussions will also be organized with experts and civil society representatives on election and foreign interference.
