Moldovan PM meets European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety

Chisinau, July 8 /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan-EU cooperation aimed at strengthening the national health system, as well as developments on Moldova's European agenda were discussed at a today's meeting between Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Stella Kyriakides, European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, the government's communication department has reported.
Recean thanked for the assistance given by the European Union in key areas, noting that EU expertise and support are important at the stage when Moldova is aligning its national legislation and preparing for the next steps in its European path. According to the premier, a priority for the government remains the building of a health system in line with European standards, which will meet the needs of citizens and offer quality services at fair prices.
In this regard, the officials emphasized the importance of increasing EU support within the framework of cooperation instruments, continuing the renovation of the health infrastructure, equipping medical institutions and the digital transformation of the system. The parties also referred to cross-border healthcare and increased efforts to maintain and develop human resources in the health system.
Tomorrow, Stella Kyriakides and Health Minister Ala Nemerenco will sign Moldova's association to the EU's Joint Procurement Agreement for medical countermeasures. Currently, 37 countries are participating in the mechanism.
