CNA: Six people detained in Comrat on illegal financing of political party

Chisinau, July 9 /MOLDPRES/- Officers of the National Anti-Corruption Center (CNA) raided today in Comrat the headquarters of the territorial organization of a political party and the homes of some activists, in a criminal case filed on charges of money laundering, illegal financing of a political party and falsification of financial reports. Following the searches, six people were detained.

According to the CNA, the actions took place in the framework of a criminal case investigating the illegal actions of the suspects, by mobilizing people to participate in organized protests, paying salaries for party activists and passenger carriers, as well as paying money through MIR bank cards issued by banking entities in the Russian Federation.

As a result of 17 raids carried out at the premises of six persons involved in the case and at the headquarters of the Comrat Territorial Organization of a political party, sums of money in lei and foreign currency, information carriers and dozens of bank cards were seized.
