DOC // Moldova, US to sign agreement on purchase of property for new embassy building

Chisinau, July 11 /MOLDPRES/- The decision on the approval of the signing of the Agreement between the Moldovan Government and the Government of the United States of America on the purchase of property for the new headquarters of the Embassy of the United States of America in Moldova was published in the Official Journal and entered into force.

According to the government, the Agreement is a bilateral intergovernmental treaty to be concluded between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the United States of America. The treaty consists of a preamble, six articles, final clauses and two annexes.

The purpose of the treaty is the acquisition by the Government of the United States of America of the property for the new headquarters of the Embassy of the United States of America in the Republic of Moldova. The Treaty will replace the Agreement, drawn up by exchange of notes, between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the United States of America regarding the land for the construction of the Embassy of the United States of America in the Republic of Moldova, signed in Chisinau on July 12, 2019.

The Agreement is concluded for a period of one year, with the possibility of extension by the Parties for additional periods.

The signing of the Agreement is expected to take place in July 2024.
