Chisinau, July 11 /MOLDPRES/- Twenty Moldovan soldiers will participate in the European Union operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (EUFOR ALTHEA). A decision to this effect was adopted by 61 MPs today.
They will participate in EUFOR ALTHEA as part of the contingent of the Romanian military forces and will carry out peace support and patrolling missions in the area of operations.
The mission will start from October 1, 2024 and will last 12 months. Logistical support will be provided by the Romanian contingent, as the Parliament recently adopted the amendment to the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of Bucharest on military cooperation. Part of the expenses will be covered by Romania.
The European Union's EUFOR ALTHEA is tasked with maintaining a secure and stable environment, cooperating fully with the country's armed forces and civilian authorities. Currently, 22 countries are present in EUFOR ALTHEA.
