Moldovan winemakers to receive 8 million lei in grants to expand presence on international market

Chisinau, July 12 /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan winemakers will benefit from about eight million lei (400 thousand euros) in the form of grants to expand their presence and strengthen their reputation on international market. In this regard, the WESA Grant Program - Moldovan Wine Promotion and Export, an initiative funded by Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund (UMAEF) was launched today.
It will be implemented by the National Inbound Tourism Association of Moldova, in partnership with the National Vine and Wine Office (ONVV) and USAID Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Activity.
Present at the event, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea noted that through the support programs, wine producers will be able to access grants and support to access the European and global markets. "It is essential for Moldovan wines to be appreciated worldwide. Wine production is only part of the road to success. Equally essential is promotion and presence on international markets, often a difficult challenge for many winemakers, even those who produce high quality wines," the official said.
WESA Grant Program, which will run over the next 12 months aims to increase sales of Moldovan wines on international markets, especially non-traditional markets such as Romania, Poland, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Denmark, South Korea, Japan and Canada. It aims to support 15 Moldovan wine companies.
