Apricot export up 4.5 times in single year

Chisinau, July 12 /MOLDPRES/- Apricot export increased 4.5 times in a single year, from 821 tons exported in January-June 2023 to 3689 tons in the same period of this year. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Dumitru Alaiba made the statement today.
"It is first of all the merit of entrepreneurs - those who find opportunities in any crisis and adapt to face challenges," Alaiba said.
Most apricots went to Ukraine, Romania and Poland.
"More and more products are finding their place on European markets. Well done to those who are conquering new markets, who are leading the way for others. We have many more victories to come in the future. I am confident. We will continue to support entrepreneurs, the hard-working people of this country, through friendly reforms, financing and access to new markets", concluded Dumitru Alaiba.
At present, apricot production covers 4,500 hectares, and every year the area expands by more than 200 hectares.
