Chisinau, July 12 /MOLDPRES/- First tenders for the construction of wind and photovoltaic parks with a total capacity of 165 MW were launched today in Chisinau. Energy Minister Victor Parlicov stressed that they will bring investments of over 190 million euros into the economy and will help us increase energy independence and achieve the goals of decarbonization of the economy.
He also said that the authorities have made efforts to ensure a transparent process of public consultations and the tender documentation would allow the widest possible participation of potential investors.
"We have been working to improve financing conditions for Moldova - we have obtained the agreement of the US Development Finance Corporation to issue country political risk insurance guarantees for renewable projects in Moldova. In this way, we can reduce the political risk and the interest rate at which these projects will be financed by at least 3-4 percentage points. This means that the participants in the tenders will be able to bid at lower prices, or our final goal is to have green, secure and affordable energy," he said.
"Never before have so many decentralized private investments in renewable energy come to Moldova. However, the instrument that was supposed to bring in the most renewable energy capacity, fixed price auctions, we are only now launching. They will bring investments of more than €190 million into the economy and will help us increase energy independence and achieve the decarbonization goals of the economy," Parlicov said.
For large renewable capacities a total capacity of 165 MW has been allocated, divided by technologies - 105 MW for wind and 60 MW for photovoltaic.
