Moldovan president on working visit to UK, Ireland

Chisinau, July 17 /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu is on a working visit to the United Kingdom on July 17-18, and on July 19 she will go to Ireland, the presidential press service has reported.

Maia Sandu will attend European Political Community summit, hosted by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The European Political Community is a key platform for European countries to discuss peace and security on the continent, as well as other common issues. Moldova hosted the second summit of the European Political Community on June 1, 2023.

The official will hold meetings with several European presidents and prime ministers and will approach peace and security of our country, economic development and European integration.

The summit will include working groups on topics such as the defense of democracy, migration, energy and connectivity. The head of state will chair, together with French President Emmanuel Macron, a working group with the leaders of several countries and international organizations, to discuss defending democracy.

In addition to the meetings in the UK, the official will travel to Dublin, to meet President of Ireland Michael Daniel Higgins and Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris.

In both London and Dublin, the president will meet with Moldovan communities living in the UK and Ireland.
