Chisinau, 18 July /MOLDPRES/ - Agricultural researchers have assessed more farmlands from south Moldova and found out that the plantations of maize were compromised at the level of 70-100 per cent and the sunflower ones – at the level of 60-80 per cent.
The reason for this is the drought, both soil and atmospheric, excessively high air temperatures and low humidity, as well as night-time air temperatures higher than +20 Celsius degrees. Deputy Prime Minister, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Vladimir Bolea unveiled data to this effect at a news conference. At the event, he presented the findings made following a 17 July visit to the southern Cahul and Cantemir districts, along with Prime Minister Dorin Recean, accompanied by representatives of research institutions.
According to the deputy PM, following the visit, decision-makers ruled that, during two weeks, the specialty academic environment should come up with recommendations for farmers. ‘’Also, in next August, a cycle of consultations will be organized, with the participation of all districts from southern Moldova, Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauz-Yeri. Their goal is to formulate directions of work before a new agricultural year. The researchers will come up with quite clear recommendations on the varieties and types of agriculture, which will allow the sector cope with the climate changes, which are boosting extraordinarily year after year,’’ Vladimir Bolea said.
At the same time, the agriculture minister called on the farmers who were inflicted damages because of the extreme natural events, such as the drought, to ask for the Notification on the attestation of the justifying impediment for the non-fulfillment of the obligations from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Moldova.
Under the legal procedures, the farmers who bore losses triggered by emergency situations with natural character must compile a damage inspection report. Based on this act, the farmers should go to CCI and take the Notification on the attestation of the justifying impediment for the non-fulfillment of the obligations, so that subsequently go to banks, to creditors and cease the process of payments of penalties and executions.
"This notification is essential, in order to justify the non-fulfillment of contractual obligations for reasons of force majeure. The interested economic agents are invited to submit the applications in electronic format or physically, in order to initiate the procedure of getting this notification. The procedure of issuance of notifications is to be enforced in the commercial contractual reports, in which at least a part is subject of the entrepreneurial activity and in which the sides of such a contract agreed in written form on the attestation by CCI,’’ the official stressed.
The second decade of July is characterized by a wave of heat, which is continuously extending and boosting and the air temperature oscillated at about +40 Celsius degrees, amid the lack of precipitation. The Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry set up a working group, made up of researchers, in order to manage the challenges faced by the agricultural sector, in the wake of the climate changes.
