New headquarters of U.S. Embassy in Moldova, park to be constructed on area of former Republican Stadium

Chisinau, 18 July /MOLDPRES/ - The field of the former Republican Stadium will be rehabilitated. The new headquarters of the Embassy of the United States and a new public park will be built there. The MPs today ratified the Agreement with the U.S. Government on the procurement of the property for the new headquarters of the diplomatic mission.   

Respectively, the diplomatic campus of the USA will be constructed on the field from Chisinau, with an area of 5.2 hectares. The American authorities commit to create also parks or spaces opened for the wide public and the investments announced will be of about 240 million dollars.  

The property’s purchasing price for the new headquarters of the U.S. Embassy in Moldova was negotiated in line with the provisions of the Law on the onerous or gratuitous transmission of a real estate. It amounts to 18 million euros. The concerned money will be allocated by the authorities for carrying out important projects, such as the repair of more sports schools, designing of the future national stadium and creation of The Universe centre of contemporary art and culture. Also, the USA will reimburse expenses worth up to 7.5 million euros, related to the transfer of the plot of land with vacant possession, including any payments dealing with expropriation and its release from any constructions.      

The Agreement with the U.S. Government on the procurement of the property for the new headquarters of the Embassy of the United States in Moldova was concluded for a one-year period, with possibility to be extended by additional periods by one year each, but not more than five times.
