Moldovan president ends working visit to the United Kingdom

Chisinau, 19 July /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu on 17-18 July was on a visit to the United kingdom, where she participated in the summit of the European Political Community (EPC) and had meetings with more European leaders and discussed with Moldovans living in the UK, the presidential press service reported.
At the summit, the head of state had a discussion on the maintaining of peace and stability in Moldova with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who is the host of the event, President of France Emmanuel Macron, German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and European Council President Charles Michel.
The leaders committed to continuing the cooperation for the maintaining of peace and stability in Moldova, in order to enhance the degree of resilience and in this climate of safety, to develop the economic and improve the living conditions of the Moldovan citizens.
Also, President Maia Sandu co-chaired, along with her French counterpart, one of the working groups of the summit, the discussions of which were focused on the defence of the democracy in Europe. On the agenda of her visit, the head of state also had bilateral meetings with more European leaders, among whom Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen, PM of Latvia Evika Siliņa, Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk, PM of the Netherlands Dick Schoof and with High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell. The discussions were focused on the European integration, economic development, Moldova’s resilience and the challenges faced by the country.
At the EPC summit, President Maia Sandu met again His Majesty King Charles III, who greeted the participants in the event.
