Moldovan energy regulator says cheapening of fuels triggered by decrease of exchange quotations, Moldovan leu's appreciation

Chisinau, 19 July /MOLDPRES/ - The prices for fuels have been decreasing on the last days. The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) explained the reasons for the cheapening, noting that the tendency was prompted by the decrease in the Platts quotations for oil products at international exchanges and the appreciation of the Moldovan leu.

Thus, in the last 14 days, used at the calculation of the maximal prices, the Platts quotations for petrol have dropped by 45 dollars per one ton or 5.1 per cent and for diesel – by 46 dollars/tone or 5.7 per cent.

At the same time, the appreciation of the national currency by 1 per cent against the U.S. dollar represented a factor which contributed to the cheapening of the fuels, ANRE said.

In these conditions, for the next three days, ANRE announced a maximal price of 25.04 lei for one litre for the COR 95 petrol, down by 0.08 lei. At the same time, the diesel will be sold for 21.50 lei for one litre at the most, which is by 0.09 lei less.
