DOC Moldova to borrow 36.2 million euros for investments in medical system. Law published in Official Journal

Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will borrow 36.2 million euros for investments in the medical system. The law on the ratification of the Agreement on loan between Moldova and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) on the project, Modernization and improvement of rehabilitation services, was published in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial) today.   

The loan of 36.2 million euros is provided for the improvement of the quality and accessibility of rehabilitation services for adults and children and the authorities will put emphasis of the medical services provided, at all levels of medical assistance, to patients hit by cerebral vascular accident (CVA) or heart attack.   

Thus, the departments of the public medical and sanitary institutions will be developed or modernized with advanced medical devices, meant for this category of patients. Also, some of the financial resources will be meant for the prevention of these diseases. More exactly, the preventive medical assistance services will be consolidated for patients with high risk of CVA or heart attack; screening and treatment; training employees in the health field; campaigns of raising people’s awareness to approach the major risk factors, including the high blood pressure, consumption of salt, physical inactivity and unsound nourishment; extension of the current programmes of tele-medicine and digital solutions in terms of health and medical assistance.       

Also, decision-makers will finance the integration of the multidisciplinary care for cardiac patients and the ones with cerebral vascular accident; consolidation of the digital infrastructure for supporting the integration of the rehabilitation services;  planning the discharge from hospital and protocol at the level of primary medical assistance; support materials for rehabilitation; development of models of home care, in order to minimize the useless and prolonged treatment at hospital.     

The Agreement on loan between Moldova and IBRD on the on the project, Modernization and improvement of rehabilitation services, was signed in Chisinau on 17 June 2024.  

The document enters into force on the date of its publication in the Official Journal.
