Moldova, Austria sign memorandum of understanding on cooperation in art, culture sectors

Chisinau, 29 July /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will develop the cooperation relations in the culture sector with Austria. A Memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the fields of arts and culture between Moldova and Austria has been signed in Salzburg.  

The Memorandum was signed by Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan and Austrian Federal Vice Chancellor, Minister for Art, Culture, Public Service and Sport  Werner Kogler.    

„Through this Memorandum, our countries commit to deepen the friendship relation and the mutual cultural exchanges. We are set to develop projects on music, theatre, dance and play; on visual arts, architecture, design, fashion and media art; on film literature, translations and editorial activity. We want to organize joint exhibitions between culture institutions – especially of contemporary art – and to cooperate in the museum sector, the one of protection of monuments and architectural heritage. Not in the least, we are interested in the Creative Europe EU Programme,’’ Minister Sergiu Prodan said.  

During discussions with Austrian officials, as well as in a message conveyed to the public at the official opening of the Salzburg Festival, Minister Sergiu Prodan said that the Memorandum showed the sides’ commitment for the cultural heritage and the authentic art.    

„These initiatives are already true opportunities to stimulate the understanding, appreciation and unity through the universal language of music and art, a chance to celebrate our traditions and vibrant artistic expressions. Ans the cooperation between our countries in the culture sector is a reciprocal recognition of the arts’ powers to transcend the borders and bring the people together, in order to create a more harmonious world, in which the cultural heritage is preserved for the next generations,’’ Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan said on the occasion of the Memorandum’s signing.      

On 26-27 July, Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan was on a visit to Austria, in the context of the Salzburg Festival – one of the greatest and oldest art festivals in Europe.
