Moldovan government approves new regulation on change of purpose of high quality farmlands

Chisinau, 30 July /MOLDPRES/ - The farmlands of high quality will be protected, in order not to allow their non-reasoned withdrawal from the agricultural circulation and the carrying out of operations leading to soil’s degradation. The cabinet today approved the Regulation on the change of the purpose of the high quality farmlands, the government’s communication department has reported. 

The change of the purpose of the farmlands, in order to develop the urban or rural infrastructure, will be carried out only based on conditions coming from the provisions of the Code of urbanism and constructions. This will be possible for the social and cultural needs of residents, development of technical and municipal infrastructure, building of the economic infrastructure, health, education and sport.      

At the same time, the change of the purpose will be made based on a cost-benefit analysis, which is to be accepted by the local public authorities or the government, depending on their importance – local or national.   

The new provisions will enter into force on 7 March 2025.
