Moldovan foreign affairs ministry issues alert of travel to Lebanon, Middle East region

Chisinau, 31 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) today issued an alert of travel to Lebanon and the Middle East region, in the context of the worrying evolution of the security situation in Lebanon.

„We firmly recommend that you avoid trips to areas from south of Lebanon (region to the south of the Litani river), because of the high risk of terror attacks. If you are already in these settlements, we advise that you immediately leave the area,’’ MAE noted.

The warning comes in the context of the conflict at the border between Lebanon and Israel, in conditions that the military confrontations in the border region ‘’ significantly boosted in the last weeks, following the attacks launched by armed groups.’’

Thus, the Ankara-based Embassy of Moldova in Lebanon conveys more recommendations to the citizens of Moldova who transit or are set to go to Lebanon. They are urged to always have original travel documents on them. At the same time, citizens are warned about being particularly attentive and prudent when they are nearby the camps of Palestinian refugees, where the situation can be unpredictable.

„Strictly observe the instructions and recommendations of the local authorities and the security forces. The cooperation with them is essential for your safety. Avoid the participation in big demonstrations and rallies. They can quickly become violent and without warning, endangering you,’’ MAE recommends.

At the same time, Moldova’s citizens who are on the Lebanese territory and need to be consulted on consular issues are urged to contact the Embassy of Moldova in Turkey (accredited for Lebanon):
