Electoral period for presidential elections, republican constitutional referendum begins today

Chisinau, Aug 1 /MOLDPRES/- Electoral period for the presidential elections and republican constitutional referendum on October 20 begins today. The provision is included in the calendar program for the organization and conduct of the elections.

According to the Election Code, the electoral period lasts until the day when the election results are confirmed by the relevant bodies, but cannot exceed 120 days.

During the period, the subsequent normative acts of the electoral law will be adjusted and approved and the lower hierarchical electoral bodies will be established. Candidates will be nominated and registered for the elections, electoral lists will be set up, ballot papers and other election materials will be prepared.

The period for the nomination and collection of signatures of supporters of candidates for the election of the President of the Republic of Moldova, as well as the submission of documents for registration as a participant in the referendum, will start on August 21.

The electoral campaign for the presidential elections and the constitutional republican referendum will start from September 20, 2024.

Elections for the President of the Republic of Moldova will be held on October 20, 2024. On the same day, the republican constitutional referendum will also be held where citizens will answer the question "Do you agree with the amendment of the Constitution for Moldova's accession to the European Union?".
