Green energy producers to get more facilities to install renewable energy sources

20:08 | 02.08.2024 Category: Economic

Chisinau, Aug 2 /MOLDPRES/- Local public authorities will be able to install renewable energy production plants to supply electricity to several places of consumption, including public buildings such as kindergartens, schools, medical centers, town halls. This will be possible after the Parliament approved this week amendments to the Law on promotion of renewable energy sources, which provides a number of incentives for green energy producers in Moldova. The new rules were explained today by Energy Minister Victor Parlicov and State Secretary Carolina Novac.

Another amendment establishes that the electricity delivered to the grid of the 4300 domestic prosumers both net metering and net billing will not be taxed.

The new legal provisions also eliminate the requirement to issue connection permits to future prosumers up to the individual capacity ceiling. At the same time, prosumers will be able to install power plants that exceed the limit provided for in the contract with the supplier, but will be remunerated for the energy delivered to the grid only up to the limit of this capacity, equivalent to their own consumption. This adjustment will make it easier for prosumers to adapt their renewable energy production systems to their specific needs, allowing them to install plants with higher capacities than their current consumption, with the prospect of covering their increased consumption in the future by installing, for example, a heat pump and/or being able to install storage batteries.

Once the law enters into force, the Ministry of Energy will take over the monitoring of compliance by large eligible producers, thus ensuring effective and continuous control.
