Chisinau, Aug 2 /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Dorin Recean's working visit to Telenesti district started today at the local market. He discussed with the people the process of modernization of localities according to the European model, as well as the important choice that Moldovan citizens are to make in the referendum to be held this autumn, the government's communication department has reported.

"Our future depends on this decision. It is time to have courage and choose what we want - to build a secure and prosperous future at home within the European family. I urge you to be united on our path of European integration, to develop our country and our communities," said Recean.

The Prime Minister also spoke to representatives of local public authorities and deconcentrated services of the Telenesti district about the authorities' efforts to ensure a better standard of living in every locality of the country. He underlined that the Government is alongside local authorities in the development of communities, including through the implementation of the European Village Program, which will be expanded to include as many concrete projects as possible for citizens across the country.

"The European Village Program has brought visible changes in hundreds of localities in Moldova and this is just the beginning. We will continue with determination and unity because European integration means more resources in our localities: modern infrastructure, access to water and sanitation services, quality kindergartens, schools and hospitals", he said.

In the last two years, through the European Village program, the Government has invested 69 million lei to build water and sewage systems, street lighting, educational and sports infrastructure for children and young people in Telenesti district. The mayors of the locality referred to the drought that has affected the Telenesti district, projects to support farmers and those to improve local infrastructure.
