Vulcănești-Chișinău Overhead Power Line: Works extended over several segments with total length of over 30 km

Chisinau, Aug. 6 /MOLDPRES/- Vulcăneşti-Chișinău Overhead Power Line (LEA) works site extended over several segments with a cumulative length of over 30 km, or about 20% of the length of the LEA. About 100 foundations, or 20% of the total required for the pillars of the future power line are in the works, 80 of which have been completed.

LEA Vulcănești-Chișinău will have a length of 157 kilometers. Thus, over 500 pylons and 1500 kilometers of conductors will make a strategic connection between the south and the center by crossing eight districts and 35 localities. Depending on the regime of the power system, the line will be able to ensure the transit of a flow of up to 630 MVA of power, which could satisfy the need for 50% of the energy consumption during the period of maximum consumption.

So far, over 70% of the owners or lessees of the land where the works were carried out have received compensation for the temporary or permanent expropriation of the land.

The construction of the overhead power line is part of the Power System Development Project. The project is amounted to 61 million euros, of which about 27 million euros are for the construction of the Line. The project is financed by the World Bank.

The construction works at LEA Vulcănești-Chișinău started this spring.
