Chisinau, Aug. 6 /MOLDPRES/- Since 2020, we have prioritized the Republic of Moldova in road infrastructure activities. One of them is the interconnection of the road infrastructure of Romania and Moldova on Union Highway project, said Irinel Ionel Scriosteanu, State Secretary of the Romanian Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure during a today's debate.
According to Scriosteanu, no objections were filed to the contract for the Bridge over the Prut of Ungheni, part of A8 highway, or, under these conditions, the contract would have to be signed with the executor of the works.
Attending the debate, Nicolai Mîndra, state secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR) said that Chisinau Government has already taken the first step for the construction of Iasi-Ungheni-Chisinau-Odesa Motorway - the corridor of the Republic of Moldova towards the European Union.
In late January, MIDR head Andrei Spînu, together with director of the State Road Administration Sergiu Bejan signed a cooperation agreement with the European Investment Bank through which the World Road Association finances the study of pre-feasibility and feasibility of Iasi-Ungheni-Chisinau-Odesa Highway construction project.
A8 highway will be about 304 km long and consists of Târgu Mureș – Târgu Neamț and Târgu Neamț – Iași – Ungheni sections.
