Moldovan firefighters deployed in Greece rescued three people from fires

Chisinau, Aug 12 /MOLDPRES/- The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations' team deployed on pre-positioning mission is involved in extinguishing several devastating fires of dry vegetation and forest fires in the Hellenic Republic. Yesterday, Moldovan firefighters managed to save three people, 10 dwelling houses and five motor vehicles from the flames.
According to the IGSU, Moldovan rescuers intervened in the afternoon of August 11 at a powerful fire that affected the town of Varnavas.
Due to the weather conditions, the fire suddenly spread to the residential area, affecting the houses.
At around 18:30, Moldovan rescuers, working together with local intervention teams, managed to save three people, 10 houses and five cars from the flames. The intervention lasted until the morning of August 12.
This morning the team received a new mission from the Greek authorities near Athens.
