Chisinau, 26 August /MOLDPRES/ - Ambassador of Romania to Moldova Cristian-Leon Turcanu, along with Deputy Prime Minister, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Vladimir Bolea, following their participation in the Grapes Festival in the southern Cimislia town, have discussed with a group of farmers from the southern Cahul district the problems faced in the sector.
„Along with Deputy PM Vladimir Bolea, we discussed with over important ten farmers of the Cahul district about the drought, the problems they face, the harvest of this year and the importance of the support on behalf of the Moldovan authorities. After almost six years of drought, the farmers need, more than ever, concrete support, plans for improvement and medium-and long-term perspectives, which are to allow the sustainable development of the agriculture in these regions in line with the European standards,’’ Cristian-Leon Turcanu said.
The diplomat appreciated especially the efforts made by the pro-European government of Moldova to listen to the needs of the farmers and come up with solutions and variants to back them.
„The diesel donated by Romania to the farmers of Moldova in the last years represented a real assistance, well-received by all farmers; yet, the needs resulted following the climate changes are particularly severe and require a change of paradigm in the future of the agriculture on this bank of Prut,’’ the Romanian ambassador in Chisinau noted.
„Together, we will be able to find the best solutions for the modernization and creation of a sustainable future of the agriculture from Moldova,’’ Cristian-Leon Turcanu added.
