Moldovan parliament speaker conveys message on Independence Day

Chisinau, 28 August /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker  Igor Grosu, along with Prime Minister  Dorin Recean on 27 August morning attended the events organized on the occasion of Moldova’s Independence Day, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.  

The officials laid flowers at the Grieving Mother monument at the Eternity Memorial Complex and at the Monument to Stephen the Great in the centre of Chisinau, thus paying homage to the people who had contributed to the getting and consolidation of the country’s independence. Attending the solemn ceremony were also MPs and employees of the parliament’s secretariat, government members, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Moldova, representatives of the central and local public institutions, citizens.    

In his message conveyed on the occasion of the Independence Day, Speaker Igor Grosu stressed the importance of this moment of reference in Moldova’s history ‘’Thirty three years is a nice age; maybe for history this is a little, but I think that this is a nice anniversary for a state which got its independence and went through more ordeal. Especially as this is an anniversary on the eve of quite important events for us; certainly, I mean the European integration process,’’ Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said.  

Speaker Igor Grosu also said a thing which must be understood from our short history is that one must fight for the independence, one should fight for respect. ‘’We worked, work and will work in order to show resoluteness, to be steadfast, more insistent, more confident in what we do and I am sure that, in this way, we will get, in a short period, to achieve the goal we everybody want - to become members of the great European family. Congratulations, Moldova! Congratulations, citizens of Moldova!,’’ Igor Grosu said.
