Five sportspeople to represent Moldova at Paralympic Games in Paris

Chisinau, 28 August /MOLDPRES/ - The Paralympic Games start in Paris today. The opening ceremony, in which about 4,000 sportspeople from 182 countries are expected to participate, will take place on the famous Champs-Elysees boulevard today evening at 20:00.      

Moldova will be represented by five sportspeople at this major event, who will compete at three disciplines - Oleg Crețu (para judo), Ion Basoc (para judo), Ina Cernei (para judo), Larisa Marinenkova (para powerlifting) and Gheorghe Spinu (para athleticism).

Larisa Marinenkova will bear the state flag at the opening ceremony.

So far, Moldova’s Paralympic team has participated in eight editions of the Paralympic Games and got two bronze medals, both in 1996.  

The Paris Paralympic Games will end on 8 September.
