Moldova's electoral body registers 12 initiative groups for backing candidates for Moldovan president's

Chisinau, 29 August /MOLDPRES/ - The members of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) have registered 12 initiative groups for the support of the candidate for the office of Moldova’s president. Today, CEC approved the registration of the initiative group for the collection of signatures for backing the candidate for the position of Moldova’s president, Alexandru Arseni, nominated by a group of citizens.    

Also today, CEC rejected the application on the registration of the initiative group for the backing of Vasile Bolea for the office of Moldova’s president. The reason invoked deals with his status of party member, incompatible with the condition of his nomination as independent candidate.    

At the same meeting, CEC reexamined the application on the registration of the initiative group for the support of the Vasile Tarlev for the office of Moldova’s president. As a result, the CEC’s decision No 2722 from 23 August 2024, under which this initiative group was registered, was cancelled.

The period of submitting the application for the registration of the initiative groups for the collection of signatures for the backing of candidates for the office of Moldova’s president ends on 31 August 2024.
