Two persons, among whom one customs officer, detained for organization of illegal migration in Moldova

Chisinau, 30 August /MOLDPRES/ - Officers of the integrity and supervision department of the Customs Service, in cooperation with border policemen and competent bodies, have detained two brothers, Moldovan citizens, documented in a criminal file opened for the organization of illegal migration. One of them is employee of the Customs Service.  

The two suspects, jointly with other people, members of a crime ring, would have ensured the facilitation of the illegal crossing of the state border for Ukrainian citizens, men able for military service. According to statements by one of the Ukrainians, the sum paid would be of 5,000 euros.   

During a recent special action, investigation teams stopped in traffic the transport means driven by the customs employee. As a result, two mobile phones and financial means were raised as evidence of the criminal file. Later on, the brother of the customs employee was also detained. He is suspected of complicity in the criminal file opened on the organization of illegal migration.  

Under a ruling by the Edinet Court, both brothers were placed under arrest for 30 days.

The leadership of the Customs Service says that the people who do not share the principle of correctness and professional integrity must voluntarily leave the institution.
