Moldovan electoral body approves model, text for republican constitutional referendum

Chisinau, 10 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today approved the model and text of the ballot paper for the republican constitutional referendum due on 20 October 2024. The ballot paper’s length is of 330 mm and the width is of 160 mm.

The ballot paper has a violet colour. At a request by the electoral bodies from the concerned electoral constituencies, the ballot papers compiled in the Romanian language will be translated also into another language, in order to facilitate the participation of the ethnic minorities in the ballot.    

Under the decision, the ballot paper will contain the draft law on the amendment of Moldova’s Constitution.

The question, ‘’Do you support the amendment of the Constitution for Moldova’s accession to the European Union?’’ will be put down in the lower part of the ballot paper. Two quadrilaterals containing the words YES and NO will be printed to the right of the text of the question and two circles will be under them, where the voter will be able to put the stamp with the inscription Votat (Voted). 

The republican constitutional referendum will be held on 20 October, concomitantly with the presidential elections.
