Works on rehabilitation of railway from southern Moldova in full swing

Chisinau, 11 September /MOLDPRES/ - The works on the rehabilitation of railways in southern Moldova are in full swing. In the last month, the superstructure of the railway was repaired on a segment of almost 4 km of the Tighina-Hagimus segment, part of the section Tighina-Causeni-Etulia-Giurgiulesti, through the setting of sleepers, provisional rails and the layer of stone. The new rails are to be set.   

According to the Railway of Moldova enterprise, it is about the biggest project on capital rehabilitation of the railway infrastructure since the proclamation of Independence so far – 233 km from Tighina to Giurgiulesti – as a result of which, the quality of railway services will be improved and the transport of goods and passengers will be ensured, without speed and mass restrictions.  

The project has a value of 113 million euros – resources provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Investment Bank and the European Union.
