Sofia, 11 sep. /BTA/. The exhibition "The Ancient Treasures of Bulgaria" containing sixteen panels was placed on the fence of the Bulgarian Embassy in Stockholm within the framework of a cultural diplomacy project, as the partners of the diplomatic mission in the Swedish capital are the Institute of Balkan Studies with the Centre of Thracian Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the State Cultural Institute under the Minister of Foreign Affairs, according to a post on the website of the embassy.
The realization of the exhibition is in the context of the celebration of the 110th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Sweden. It aims to increase the positive image and recognition of the country as a tourist destination among the Swedish society by presenting the Bulgarian cultural and historical heritage and creating a permanent space promoting Bulgaria around the Embassy, the mission said.
The photographs depict artistically crafted gold objects of high historical value, dating back to the 6th-5th centuries BC: precious vessels, jewellery, weapons, etc. The objects are evidence of high artistic style in antiquity and amaze with their remarkable ornamentation and elegance, according to the release.
The Bulgarian Embassy also said that the long-term goal of the exhibition space is to display photographs related to Bulgarian culture, writing, tourism and natural attractions, to promote bilateral ties and cultural exchange with Sweden. Future plans include the presentation of tourist destinations in Bulgaria and the Bulgarian alphabet.
