Moldovan PM participates in fourth edition of National Congress of Internal Medicine

Chisinau, 13 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean has participated in the fourth edition of the National Congress of Internal Medicine. The event titled, Improvement of the Clinical Practice through Innovation and Cooperation, brought together over 500 physicians of different specialties, national and international experts, who discussed innovating strategies of prevention, diagnose and treatment, focused on patients’ needs, the government’s communication department reported.
In his speech, the prime minister appreciated the contribution of the medical staff to the development and modernization of the sector, extension and improvement of the quality of services provided to citizens.
„You are the people on whose shoulders the country’s entire health system stays. Our duty, the one of the government is to provide the infrastructure, investments and equipment needed, so that you can do your job in the best conditions and people benefit from the best medical assistance possible. A healthy society is a society which can develop and advance,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.
According to the PM, in the last 3 years, the conditions in the hospital have been improved through investments of 3 billion lei – a record sum for Moldova. At the same time, after the transfer of the district hospitals to the management of the Health Ministry, investments worth almost 400 million lei were made in the modernization of their infrastructure. Also, the salary of the medical staff increased by 25 per cent, the incomes of the non-medical staff grew by 85 per cent and the ones of the forensic physicians - by 35 per cent.
Another achievement is the renovation of 60 sections of various profile, renewal of the park of ambulances by 184 transport units, the setting of 127 generators in all sanitary units from Moldova and the inauguration of the biggest Emergency Reception Unit of the country, endowed with medical equipment of the last generation. At the same time, drug stores were opened in 150 rural settlements and over 800,000 people benefited from compensated medicines, the list of which was extended.
„I assure you that we will continue in the same pace, in order to have a modern and efficient health system, with European hospitals and conditions. Now, we have possibility to be EU member and to build together an advance medicine at home,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.
During two days, on 13 and 14 September, lectures will be given on recent innovations in the internal medicine sector at the National Congress. The agenda includes also scientific sessions, presentations of complex clinical cases and symposia dedicated to the most important spheres of specialty.
