Moldovan PM says R34 road de-blocked, movement takes place in safety conditions

Chisinau, 14 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean has paid a visit to the southern Leova district, one of the worst hit by the torrential rains. The PM discussed with residents, policemen, rescuers, roadmen and the local administration in the villages of Sarata Noua and Romanovca. The local authorities informed that the R34 road, which crosses the Sarata Noua village, had been de-blocked and the movement was taking place in conditions of safety.
Unfortunately, more economic agents from the settlement here hit – the high flood got into their warehouses.
„In Romanovca, because of the dam of the lake, which yielded, two bridges were destroyed by waters. In the context, I asked for an inquiry on the way of exploitation and maintenance of the broken lake. I visited one of the nine households affected. People say that they had not seen such a rain for a long time, which flooded their houses, cellars and gardens in just several hours. The local Commissions for Emergency Situations recorded the losses borne by citizens. The government will intervene through the Intervention Fund, along with the local public administration, in order to support the communities hit,’’ the prime minister said.
The Interior Ministry and the Defence Ministry, along with the local authorities, act in order to remedy the problems emerged all over the country. ‘’I thank all teams involved in the prompt mobilization of all citizens, who helped on the period of the bad weather,’’ Dorin Recean noted.
„The crisis cell stays activated for the next 72 hours and we will receive reports hour after hour. At the same time, we urge the citizens to strictly observe the recommendations, in order to ensure their safety and the safety of the people around. Avoid the non-essential trips to the areas hit and be informed only from official sources and if necessary, call 112,’’ the PM also said.
Subsequently, the local Commissions for Emergency Situations will assess the damages and will submit to the government the information for their repair. According to the weather forecast, the Yellow and Orange Code maintains including for 15 September.
