Balatina village to expand water supply system with US government's support

Chisinau, Sep 22 /MOLDPRES/- Another important project will soon be carried out in the village of Balatina, Glodeni district, with the US government's support. On September 17, USAID's My Community Program signed a funding agreement with the town hall of the village to extend the existing water supply system in the locality.

The project is a component of a larger initiative entitled Construction of water supply systems in 10 localities in the Prut river valley, Glodeni district, the first stage of which has already been completed with the support of the Regional Development Agency (ADR) North. To continue the effort, Balatina city hall, in collaboration with My Community program will extend the water distribution networks on several streets in the village, totaling about 7.3 km.

My Community is USAID's core program, implemented by IREX, in the area of local governance and aims to support local public authorities to become more efficient, transparent and accountable to citizens, as well as to provide technical assistance and training to town hall staff to respond to the needs of the people.
