Moldovan Foreign Affairs Ministry says bomb alert takes place at polling station in Bologna; voting process temporarily suspended

Chisinau, 20 October /MOLDPRES/ - The voting procedure was suspended for a while at a polling station from Bologna (Italy), because of a bomb alert, the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) said.  

„As a result of a bomb alert at a polling station from Bologna, a decision was taken to suspend the voting process for a short period, for the Italian competent authorities to verify the area,’’ reads a MAE’s press release.  

MAE specifies that, with the announcement about the mining of the building, the electoral bureau of the polling station allowed the participation of all citizens who were waiting to vote. Subsequently, the Italian authorities ruled to evacuate the people and started the verification operations.    

MAE gives assurances that the ballot papers were preserved in secured space and the voting box continued to be monitored with a video camera made available by CEC.

Following the end of the verification actions, depending on the result, the polling station will resume work.

At the moment, there are citizens expecting to vote at the polling station from Bologna.
