Chișinău, Oct 21 /MOLDPRES/- After counting about 98.42% of the reports, 50.08% of citizens voted YES, while 49.92% chose NO in the constitutional referendum on Moldova's accession to the European Union.
Data of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) shows that 1,546,757 voters participated in the election, representing 51.4% of those registered on the electoral lists. 1,478,958 voters signed the electoral lists to receive the ballots for the referendum, which accounts for 49.81%.
CEC President Angelica Caraman mentioned during a briefing that after receiving the reports from the electoral district councils, the Commission will present a report on the election results to the Constitutional Court, which will, in turn, confirm or invalidate the referendum results within 10 days through a ruling.
