Scientific research institutions urge citizens to participate in 3 November ballot, support Moldova's European integration way

Chisinau, 29 October /MOLDPRES/ - The scientific research institutions call on the country’s citizens to participate in the presidential elections, due on 3 November, and support Moldova’s European integration way.
The message is contained in a statement issued by the Board of Directors of the Research Institutions of the Moldovan State University (USM), Moldovan Technical University (UTM), Academy of Economic Studies (ASEM), Culture Ministry and the Education and Research Ministry.
The declaration reads that ‘’the accomplishment of the European vocation of Moldova’s people and the accession to the European Union represent two components of its national interests, which presently have the decisive role in the processes of modernization and democratization.’’
„Moldova cannot afford the luxury to miss this window of opportunities, this unprecedented openness on behalf of the European institutions and the European integration way demands not declarative actions, but assumed and feasible ones,’’ the declaration’s authors say.
They also say that, through the participation in the presidential elections due on 3 November 2024 and the support of the European integration way, the scientific researches will contribute to the nearing of the starting of the negotiations on the chapters of the EU’s acquis, including the chapter 25, dedicated to the education and research.
„The scientific researchers and the university and teaching staff of Moldova benefit from more European programmes and actions, especially the Horizon Programme and the COST Mobilization Actions, which allowed them becoming full-fledged members of the European area of research and innovation. The organization and carrying out of scientific, scientific and practical events, the publication of scientific works at prestigious publishing houses, including with European support, represent other possibilities which can be enjoyed by the researchers from Moldova,’’ the declaration also reads.
The runoff of the presidential elections will take place in Moldova on 3 November.
