Moldovan electoral body unveils preliminary results. Maia Sandu wins second mandate of president

Chisinau, 3 November /MOLDPRES/ - Following the verification of over 93 per cent of the official reports, the current president, Maia Sandu, leads, getting 51.66 per cent of the votes. The candidate of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Alexandr Stoianoglo, picked up 49.34 per cent of the ballots, according to the preliminary results of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC).     

A number of 728,729 electors voted for the candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), Maia Sandu, according to the results from 23:30.   

A number of 709,765 electors voted for the PSRM candidate, Alexandr Stoianoglo. 

The runoff presidential elections are held in Moldova on 3 November. The current President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, backed by the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) and the candidate of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), Alexandr Stoianoglo, fight for the office of head of state.

As many as 1,691,989 citizens with right to vote or 54.24 per cent of the electors participated in the elections.
