PHOTO Expo Mobila 2024 opened at Moldexpo centre

Chisinau, Nov 7 /MOLDPRES/- The 22nd edition of the international specialized exhibition of furniture, equipment, tools, materials and accessories for furniture production Expo Mobila was inaugurated today at Moldexpo centre. The event brings together about 100 companies in the sector. The exhibition will be open until Sunday, November 10 and entrance is free.
Attending the event, Deputy Prime Minister Dumitru Alaiba said that the furniture manufacturing sector is in a continuous evolution, reaching a 22.5% growth in eight months of this year. "This is the pace of growth we want to project across the economy. Moldova needs this kind of growth. More than 500 companies in the sector provide jobs in factories and plants. In our industrialization programme we have a very clear vision to support the furniture industry with everything it needs to increase both the industry's contribution to GDP and the average wage in the sector. But the biggest opportunity for our industry remains European integration. That means investment and access to funds," said Alaiba.
Over the past three years, 43 companies in the furniture industry have received support through the programs of the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA). The state support to the companies amounted to 16.5 million lei, which contributed to investments in the economy worth 43.8 million lei.
Eduard Scutaru, executive director of the Moldovan Furniture Producers' Union noted that the furniture industry is a strategic sector that is constantly growing, being in the top 10 industries by production volume. According to him, the EU is the main market for the sector's companies' products.
The participants at the exhibition were also greeted by Moldexpo director-general Zinaida Popa, who said Expo Mobila is a complex event that includes important functions of promoting the offers and the most modern ideas of interior design.
Visitors will be able to find various types of furniture at the exhibition, from kitchens, living rooms and bedrooms to furniture for HORECA sector and for schools and kindergartens. Accessories, equipment, tools and materials for furniture production make up another section of the exhibition.
